We started our Community Champion Forum back in January 2023 at Tesco in Dedworth and they have gone from strength to strength with Windsor’s Community Champions meeting up regularly to share what they are getting up to, what they need help with and generally supporting each.
Recognising that the best way for budding volunteers to find out more about the roles available in the community is for them to spend time with those already involved in community roles, it made sense to change the name to Windsor Community Forum and invite both Community Champions and budding volunteers to attend the same meeting.
Numbers vary from 5 to 25 but it’s not about the quantity, the quality is all important.
Not everyone is free on a particular day and so we have arranged 12 meetings across 3 venues and 3 days of the week so hopefully you can get along to a couple during the year. We aim not to clash with school holiday.
- The meetings are 10am – 12pm.
- They start with everyone saying a few words about who they are and their role in the community.
- We may then have a speaker for 20 minutes on a relevant topic.
- Attendees are invited to share any current challenges they might need help with and the group offers their thoughts.
- We then move to one to one networking so you can have a few minutes with those you would like to hear more about.
